Donegal Giving began with a simple belief: giving is not only about money. It can mean sharing time, knowledge, experience, opportunity or kindness.
Founder Evelyn McGlynn had held the idea for eight years. She wanted to celebrate the generosity already present across Donegal and encourage people, businesses, educators and community organisations to recognise what they could give.
As the initiative moved towards a public launch, it needed a digital home that could explain an unfamiliar idea clearly, bring different audiences into the movement and grow with the project over time.
Our approach
Crintus & Co worked with Evelyn to turn the vision behind Donegal Giving into a clear and accessible online experience.
The challenge was not simply to build a website. We needed to help people quickly understand what Donegal Giving meant, see themselves within it and find a practical way to participate.
We shaped the website around distinct pathways for individuals, businesses, educators and community organisations. Stories and people were placed at the heart of the experience, giving the initiative a way to celebrate generosity in action rather than only describe its mission.
What we delivered
Crintus & Co created and launched a WordPress website that included:
- Clear messaging and information architecture for a new initiative
- Tailored pathways for businesses, educators, individuals and community groups
- A growing library of community stories
- Friends of Donegal Giving profiles
- Event and project information
- Forms for sharing stories, becoming a Friend and starting a conversation
- MailerLite newsletter integration
- Google Search Console and analytics foundations
- Hosting, domain, DNS and ongoing technical support
The result was a flexible platform that could support the initial launch while continuing to evolve with the movement.
From idea to public movement
Donegal Giving officially launched at An Grianán Theatre in Letterkenny on 6 November 2025. More than 260 people attended, including representatives from businesses, charities, not-for-profits, education and community organisations.
The website gave that interest a place to continue after the event. Visitors could learn about the initiative, explore community stories, discover the people supporting it and find ways to become involved.
The movement continued to develop after launch. It received national media coverage, completed its first Transition Year pilot programme at Gairmscoil Chú Uladh and became the subject of a final-year marketing research project at Atlantic Technological University.
In June 2026, the initiative reached another milestone by formally becoming Donegal Giving CLG, a not-for-profit social enterprise.
The website in numbers
Across the year spanning its launch, the Donegal Giving website recorded:
- 2,092 active users
- 5,631 page views
- 64 seconds average engagement time per active user
- 813 organic search sessions
Visitors did more than land on the homepage. The Stories hub received 490 views, the Friends of Donegal Giving page received 433 views and the Contact page received 300 views. Pages for submitting a story, becoming a Friend and working on a project also attracted interest.
Google Search Console recorded 508 organic search clicks and 1,626 impressions after the website began appearing in search. Interest peaked around the November launch, while search visibility later expanded across 49 countries.
The outcome
Donegal Giving moved from a long-held idea to a visible, active and growing county-wide movement.
The website provided the initiative with a credible public identity and a central place to explain its purpose, share stories and invite participation. It supported the launch, created an ongoing destination for media and social audiences, and gave the project a platform that could grow alongside its programmes, partnerships and new social-enterprise structure.
What began as Evelyn’s vision now has a digital home designed to keep building a culture of giving across Donegal.
